ALVARADO (CBSDFW.COM) -- Who shot a sweet dog named Tucker? That question is still unanswered in Alvarado, where the black retriever mix was found last week.

But the 11-month-old is now living with a foster family while he recovers from orthopedic surgery to repair a shattered femur.

X-rays show he'd been shot at close range a week or so before. Despite the cruelty, Whitney Hanson with the Humane Society of North Texas says Tucker should make a full recovery.

"He loves on everyone. He's wiggly," said Hanson. "He just wants to give everyone kisses and he's going to make an amazing pet for whoever is lucky enough to adopt him after he recuperates."

The Humane society says the person who shot and left Tucker for dead has not been caught.

They're asking those with any information to contact the Humane Society of North Texas' Humane Investigations Team at 817-332-4768 (x113).
