DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Texas Rangers pitcher Jeremy Jeffress was arrested and booked into the Dallas County jail as of 5:13 a.m. Friday for an allegedly Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). His bond has been set at $500. There has been no word yet as to whether or not the reliever is still in custody.

The Rangers front office released a statement Friday morning.

"The Texas Rangers are aware of the situation involving Jeremy Jeffress that took place early this morning. At this time, we are in the process of gathering information and have no further comment."

Jeffress was traded to the Rangers from the Milwaukee Brewers on August 1 along with catcher Jonathan Lucroy. In 2007, he was suspended for 50 games after testing positive for drugs. Two years later, Jeffress tested positive again and was suspended for 100 games.

The 28-year-old relief pitcher from south Boston, Virginia has also played in the MLB for the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays.
