DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The victim of a Wednesday night shooting in Dallas has been pronounced dead. Authorities on Thursday identified the victim as 56-year-old Saeid Ardestani. His body was discovered unconscious at a Valero gas station near Dallas Love Field, and officials believe that his shooting might be related to a nearby robbery.

Video surveillance footage from the gas station shows a vehicle with an unknown male and female inside. The car stops at the location and leaves a body. "A car pulled up and they just... they dropped him," said a man who works at the convenience store.

Ardestani was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, but pronounced dead.

Authorities responded to a shooting call later Wednesday evening at the Spanish Pueblo Apartments, located in the 9700 block of Dale Crest Drive. This is less than a mile from the gas station where Ardestani was found. A man identified as 74-year-old Thomas Lopez told 911 operators about an attack and robbery that took place.

According to Lopez, two Latin males entered his apartment and demanded money, putting their hands in his pockets and threatening to shoot him if he did not comply. But the victim was armed with a handgun in his waistband. Lopez took out the weapon and fired as the suspects began to flee.

Lopez actually made his 911 call after Ardestani's body was found. He blamed phone problems for the delay. Lopez later identified Ardestani as the man who was shot during the robbery. "Mr. Lopez defended himself in the course of being robbed in his home," said Ofc. Juan Fernandez with the Dallas Police Department.

No charges have been filed against Lopez. The case will be referred to the grand jury. Meanwhile, police are still searching for the other suspects.
