Pizza Patron Set To Start "Por Favor" Promotion

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Dallas-based company Pizza Patron will give away free pizzas to anyone who asks for them -- with a little Spanish infused. The "Pizza Por Favor" advertising campaign is expected to draw a lot of loyal customers, but the company is also hoping the attract some new patrons to its 104 stores across seven states.

The promotion is simple. Rather than saying "please" when placing your order, Pizza Patron will give you a free pizza simply for saying "pizza por favor." The company, which serves a largely Hispanic clientele, announced the deal last month. They expect long lines once the deal officially kicks off on Tuesday evening.

Pizza Patron executives said that they are doing this for two reasons -- to celebrate the brand's Hispanic focus and honor the positive force of change that immigrants have made in communities throughout the nation.

The promotion has certainly been an attention-grabber, and it has stirred a lot of heated debate. As of Tuesday morning, well over 1,900 people had posted comments on CBSDFW.COM, expressing their thoughts about the campaign.

"How about giving free items for anyone speaking good English," said commenter Angela. "This is America, you know."

"Let me understand," added commenter Zumaque, "if a food business wants to give you something for free, you are against that?"

"Don't buy the pizza if you don't like their social commentary," said commenter Texdandy.
