North Texas Middle School Principal Indicted

DENTON COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Former Argyle school board member and current middle school principal Wendee Long has been indicted for allegedly making a video recording inside a high school girl's locker room back in February.

The recording was made when the Argyle girl's varsity basketball team played an away game in Sanger. Police believe the recording was made on a cell phone that was left in a locker.

Long has been indicted on two counts.

"Improper Photography or Visual Recording, and that is a state felony. The second count of the indictment is Wire Tapping; that is a second-degree felony," Denton County Assistant District Attorney Jamie Beck explained.

Long had been the principal of Wayside Middle School, in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Independent School District, for five years, but was put on administrative leave last Friday after telling her superiors she was soon expecting formal charges to be filed against her.

At the time of the alleged offense Long was also a sitting school board member, but she was defeated in the primary election.

Long surrendered to authorities on Monday.

"It's a $25,000 bond and I believe she turned herself in at the Denton County Jail, which is also the Denton County Sheriff's Office," Beck said. "She did post bond and has been released."

During the investigation police had said Long's daughter was the one who left the recording device in the locker room, in an attempt to "get something" on the basketball coach.

A separate case involving Long's daughter was also presented but the grand jury declined to indict the teenager.
