Nighttime Is The Right Time: Bow Fishing On Lake Ray Roberts

LAKE RAY ROBERTS (CBSDFW.COM) - Hello again, outdoors fans, and thanks for tuning in to last week's debut episode of "DFW Outdoorsman!" We heard from many of you on Twitter, and we appreciated your comments. Keep 'em coming! Our handle is @DFWOutdoorsman. Like us on Facebook while you're at it.

This week's adventure into Texas' wild places takes us to the shores of Lake Ray Roberts, where we met bow fishing guides Donald Lee and David Votaw. After a safety briefing and some shooting tips, Donald took the helm and we raced out onto the dark lake. Well, it wasn't TOO dark because of the boat's intense lights that illuminate the fish. We were on the hunt for gar, carp and buffalo. While these "rough" fish are abundant in Lake Ray Roberts, the lake is also known for its large mouth bass, white bass and crappie.

We trolled along the dam where Marcus and executive producer Elliott Moore warmed up with a few shots into water teeming with bait fish. Donald then took us into the upper reaches of the lake where the action really picked up!

How did our two bow anglers do? Well, catch this weekend's episode of "DFW Outdoorsman" to find out! "DFW Outdoorsman" airs Saturday at 5:30 a.m. on CBS 11, with an encore airing Saturday night at 10:00 p.m. on TXA 21. Another encore can be seen Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. on TXA 21.

See you then, and remember Marcus' "motto: "If you're not outside, you're wrong!"
