NEW YORK (CBS NEWS) - One of the Jonas Brothers may be heading to "American Idol." Nick Jonas told fans on Twitter over the weekend that he is in the running to join the show's judging panel.
"The rumors are true...I am being considered to be a judge on 'American Idol' and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol," he tweeted on Saturday. The 19-year-old added in another Twitter message: "Loved seeing all your amazing response to#NickOnIdol keep it coming!"
If Jonas signs on for "American Idol," he would be filling one of the seats left open by departing judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. Mariah Carey inked a deal to serve as a judge on the show's 12th season. According to Entertainment Weekly, there is no word yet on whether judge Randy Jackson will return.
Jonas was born in Dallas and still owns a home in North Texas with his brothers.
