Newly-Opened Military Clinic Helps North Texas Veterans

ADDISON (CBS11) - The contemporary furnishings and large video monitors on the walls provide an environment of ease.
When you walk in the door of the Cohen Military Family Clinic in Addison, the decor resembles a foyer for a boutique hotel or spa.
"We want veterans to feel relaxed and welcomed,"Dr. John Burruss, CEO of Metrocare Services says about the new clinic opening its doors for vets.
The clinic provides mental health care for veterans and their family members.
It's the first in the Dallas area. The clinic offers free services for 9-11 era vets and their loved ones.
"We have to support those with invisible injuries of war. They are relevant, real, and they are important things for us to address," Dr. Burruss emphasized.
The clinic operation extends outreach to individuals facing post traumatic stress, anxiety, mental health affliction and emotional turmoil in their family lives.
"We have to take time and energy to reach out to families as well, to come here and get help when they need it," Jonathan Hill, the clinic's outreach coordinator said.
Hill is a veteran himself. He served four tours of duty.
His mission now is to ensure local veterans get the support and help they need.
The Military Family Clinic provides the services free of charge.
Metro Services, a longstanding mental health service provider, partners with Cohen Military Family to offer medical services.
The clinic is located on Midway and Keller Springs in Addison.
All services are free for military veterans and their immediate family members.
