New Poll Gives Incumbent Lead

A new poll on the governor's race is giving the nod to Rick Perry.  The Belo-Texas poll conducted by Public Strategies asked likely voters who they prefer in the governor's race a month from today, and for the first time, Rick Perry pulled in 50%.

UT Arlington Political Science Professor Allan Saxe says barring any major scandalous revelations, the poll bodes well for Perry, who's already faced questions about funds for donors.

In North Texas, Perry leads democratic challenger Bill White in the poll 48% to 34%.
