New Family For German Shepherd Rescued On Texas Interstate
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Last week Dallas police rescued a German Shepherd from the HOV lane. Saturday people lined up to adopt the dog.
The dog, which was initially called Polk, Rush, and Elvis, was rescued near Interstate-35 and I-67 during rush hour traffic. When the owner didn't' come forward Polk/Rush/Elvis was put up for adoption.
Interest in giving the dog a 'forever home' was expected to be high, so Dallas Animal Services held a raffle for the animal. The winner of the raffle got first shot at adopting the dog.
After drawing three names of interested adopters and going through a screening process a family was chosen for the dog that is believed to be about 10-years-old.
The new owners decided to go with the name Elvis and happily took care of the fees to get Elvis his vaccinations, have him neutered and of course put a microchip on him!
Footnote – The policeman who coaxed Elvis off the highway, Officer Pogue, was on hand for the big day.
