DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Mavericks have re-signed Bernard James after the second-year center cleared waivers.

James was originally waived by the Mavericks on July 19, 2013 and cleared waivers on July 21, 2013. He was put through waivers for salary cap reasons. Terms of the deal  weren't announced Friday.

James, a Georgia native, played NCAA ball for Florida State and is a former Air Force staff sergeant where he completed three tours to Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar. He was the 33rd pick in the 2012 draft.

The Mavericks acquired the rights for James, Jared Cunningham and Jae Crowder in a deal involving No. 17 pick Tyler Zeller.

James played in 46 games with 11 starts, averaging 2.8 points and 2.8 rebounds. He will be the third center behind Samuel Dalembert and Brandan Wright.
