FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A judge on Friday ordered that Ryan Walker Grant remain in custody until his grand jury hearing. Grant is the Arlington strip club owner who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly attempting to pay to have two city officials killed.

Special Agent Matt Wilkins testifed on Friday, saying that Grant made several phone calls and had several meetings to set up the murder of Mayor Robert Cluck and contract attorney Tom Brandt. Just one day before the alleged murders were to be carried out, Grant got spooked by a letter sent to him by the City of Arlington, telling him to stop harrassing those involved in a prior lawsuit. The suspect told an individual to postpone the deal.

Grant spoke to the individual again on April 9 and allegedly ordered Cluck's murder. A few hours later, he was arrested by FBI agents. Inside of his home, authorities found $150,000 in cash and 22 guns, including an assault rifle. Some of the items were found in hidden compartments. His front door was also said to be barricaded by wood and brackets.

An attorney representing Grant spoke on Friday, to say that owning guns and having cash is not illegal. Grant's family declined to talk.

The judge on Friday said that Grant is a flight risk and a danger to the community.

In January, the city ordered that Grant's club be shuttered until 2013. Grant stood to lose $800,000 each year if his club's license was revoked and he could no longer operate. The club, called Flashdancer, was the 12th sexually oriented business to be closed in Arlington. This is believed to be the motivation behind Grant's alleged actions.
