Malfunctioning Monorail Strands 100 Dallas Zoo Patrons
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - For 100 people at the Dallas Zoo, a Saturday afternoon ride along the monorail was the way they had to end their day of watching lions, tigers and bears.
But what they didn't know was that the ride would turn out to last a little longer than planned after a malfunction left the cars stranded high above the ground along for more than 30 minutes.
The monorail, a people mover installed at the Dallas Zoo over 20 years ago, is a one-mile loop used to shuttle people across the zoo in a timely manner, and happened to be in a convenient location only 20 feet above a foot path for patrons near the entrance when it stalled around 3:30 Saturday.
None of the 100 people on board were injured, and all of them were able to get off using one of 5 ladders Dallas Fire-Rescue brought with them to the zoo.
