Lymphoma Foundation Ready For 8th Annual 5K Walk
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/KRLD) - You can take part in a 5K walk to benefit cancer research Saturday in Dallas Fair Park.
The eighth annual Dallas/Fort Worth Lymphomathon is a non-competitive walk to raise funds and awareness for the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
Leigh Olsen, with the DFW chapter of the Lymphoma Foundation, is hoping to break records with this years walk.
"We have teams that are supporting teachers, fathers, uncles, [and] friends. We have grown to over 500 in attendance," she said. "Last year we raised $100,000. We're hoping to do as well or better this year."
Lymphoma is the most common blood cancer in adults and is the third most common cancer overall in children.
Every day, approximately 200 Americans are diagnosed with a type of lymphoma, which affects the immune system.
The Lymphomathon is one of the biggest events of the year in Dallas.
You can register for the walk on the Lymphoma Research Foundation website. On Saturday, on-site registration for the walk begins at 9 a.m. and walks starts at 10 a.m. There is no fee to enter the walk.
