KRUM (CBSDFW.COM) - The Krum High School Band Director has been arrested and charged with having an Improper Relationship between Educator and Student, a second degree felony.

Krum Police say they got information last Friday that Steven Scher, 28, was having a sexual relationship with a student and arrested Scher on Wednesday.

After finding out about the allegations, Scher submitted his resignation Monday at Krum ISD's request according to a statement by the school district.

Krum ISD says it's cooperating with police on the investigation.

The statement went on to say, "Krum ISD staff is entrusted with the safety and well being of students, and for that trust to ever be broken is unacceptable. The inexcusable actions of one former teacher do not speak for the hundreds of Krum ISD educators who work tirelessly to protect and educate students."
