DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Troubled ex-NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel has reached a deal with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office in his misdemeanor domestic violence case.

According to the DAs office, Manziel has been issued a 'Conditional Dismissal Agreement' from his case in which the 23-year-old is accused of hitting and threatening former girlfriend Colleen Crowley during a night out in January 2016.

Although the case is not fully dismissed, and Manziel has not been formally placed on any type of probation, the Dallas Co. DA's office describes the agreement as "a contract between a defendant, the prosecution, and the Court."

A statement from the Dallas Co. DA office states that in these types of agreements they will -

"monitor the progress of a defendant for the time it takes to complete the requirements of the Agreement, up to one year's time, and should an individual fail to live up to these requirements, they will be prosecuted for the offense charged. It is the defendant's responsibility to make arrangements with providers of treatment and/or counseling that meet the Court's approval."

The former Texas A&M star and Heisman Trophy winner faced a misdemeanor assault charge that carries a penalty of up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

Even though Manziel is originally from Texas, the former NFL star has been living in the Los Angeles area while taking online classes from Texas A&M.

After the agreement was announced Manziel's attorney, Jim Darnell, sent the following statement -

"I'm thankful to both the court and prosecutor for their hard work and diligence in trying to come to a fair and just resolution for all parties involved. My client is pleased to be able to put this part of the situation behind him and is eager to satisfy the terms of the agreement."

Darnell said neither he nor Manziel would have any further comment on the matter.
