Guide To DFW Museums & Social Media

Learning about art or history doesn't stop once you leave a museum. Dallas/Fort Worth museums are using social media to interact with the public, and the Twitter feeds, Flickr pages, blogs, YouTube sites and Facebook pages are helping us expand our knowledge of the arts and humanities, one click at a time. The DMA shares a wealth of information on their regularly updated blogs. On the Uncrated blog, the museum posts behind-the-scenes looks, staff picks of favorite works in the collection, and information on new acquisitions. The Educator blog spotlights education events and programs, while the We Art Family blog offers tips for looking at and making art with children, and share information about the Museum's programs for families. The Flickr page features event photos. YouTube features interviews with artists and event highlights, while their Twitter is active, responsive and packed with information.

On their newly redesigned website, the Amon Carter offers a number of great blogs. "Fear No Art" gives visitors a a peek at what goes on behind the scenes of the Carter's exhibitions and events. A recent post featured the design process of the upcoming special exhibition on watercolors and drawings. "Notes from the Underground" highlights great images from the museum's collection. Check out their Analog to Digital series, which documents photographs from the museum digitization initiative.
