Fighter Jet In Texas Painted Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness

CORPUS CHRISTI (CBSDFW.COM) - The USS Lexington, a World War II-vintage Essex Class aircraft carrier, has long been anchored in Corpus Christi Bay, but today there is a plane like no other sitting on the flight deck.
A retired fighter jet, at the USS Lexington Museum On The Bay, has been painted pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The F9F-8 Cougar was one of the most fierce jets in the skies during the Korean War-era and is now part of a new exhibit. The jet is the first plane exhibit to ever be painted pink.
The Cougar will be on display until the last day of the month. Officials with the USS Lexington Museum say after that the jet will be power-washed and restored to its original finish.
The USS Lexington is the world's oldest aircraft carrier.
