DPD Investigate Robbery And Theft At Katy Trail And Reverchon Park

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas Police Department says two crimes at and near the Katy Trail do not appear to be related but are reminding folks to always be aware of surroundings and to try to walk in groups rather than alone.

Police say on January 9, at 9:30 a.m., a woman, 31, was jogging on the Katy Trail. When she got off the trail and entered Reverchon Park, a man stepped in front of her and yelled "give me all your money" several times. The victim tossed a $5 bill at the suspect (who did not show a weapon) sprayed him with mace and ran away. The suspect did not pursue her.

The suspect description was vague.

On January 13, at 4:24 p.m., a man was walking in the 1600 block of Lyte Street after coming off the Katy Trail near the American Airlines Center when he was approached by two suspects who engaged him in conversation. As he continued walking, one of the suspects struck him in the head with an unknown object knocking him to the ground. The victim ran away from the suspects. The suspects caught up to him, slammed him to the ground and stole his cell phone. Both suspects ran off when witnesses intervened.

The suspect descriptions were vague.

Detectives continue to investigate and are asking anyone with information related to these crimes call Dallas Police detectives at 214-671-3584.
