DART Rail Schedules Change Ahead Of Orange Line Opening

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Next week, some Dallas commuters may find themselves running to catch the train or finding out it left five minutes before they arrived.

Starting Monday, July 16 Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) will begin running transition schedules in preparation for the new Orange Line rail service.

During the two-week transition some trains will run several minutes earlier and some will run slightly later – leaving some commuters with less time for connections or a destination arrival time that is later than previously scheduled.

A portion of the 14-mile Orange Line will run parallel with the Green Line, but a Bachman Station it will run northwest to Las Colinas and eventually, in 2014, on to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.

Several Orange Line trains will replace some of the current Red Line trains, requiring some travelers to transfer to Red or Blue Line trains.

During the transition period the Orange line will only operate in Dallas and there will be no passenger service west of Bachman Station.

The first section of the Orange Line officially opens July 30; the same day bus service is scheduled to change.

Any riders using trains or making bus-train connections will need to check the new train schedules.
