Dallas Mavericks Host 'Courageous Conversations' Meet-Up In Victory Plaza

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Wednesday, a large and diverse crowd, which included Dallas Mavericks Owner, Mark Cuban, took a knee outside of The American Airlines Center, to pray and silently honor the life of George Floyd.

"I saw that video," Cuban said. "I saw the officer on his neck, I was repulsed. It was stomach churning. It made me ill."

Those uncomfortable images have ignited uncomfortable conversations about systemic racism. Cuban says the conversations are necessary and wants The City Of Dallas to join the discussion.

So Cuban and The Mavericks created a public panel called, 'Courageous Conversation.'

"Minorities have never had an issue discussing race. It's part of your daily life," said Cuban. "You have to recognize it. But white people have a hard time discussing race. It makes us really uncomfortable when anyone discusses white privilege. I think it's really incumbent among us to stop being afraid to have those conversations about race and really start addressing the issues."

Cuban and other civic leaders in attendance, emphasized honest and meaningful conversations about race, will play a huge role in the country's fight against social injustice.
