Here are some closing details for the major campuses in North Texas -

The Dallas Independent School District has canceled Friday classes. DISD officials said they made the move in "an abundance of caution." In addition to schools and administrative offices, DISD has also canceled all district activities and athletic events on Saturday, December 7.

Dallas ISD administrators said, "Essential personnel, including pre-identified maintenance and police employees will report to work."

After saying they were monitoring weather conditions closely, on Thursday evening the Fort worth Independent School District also canceled classes. In a press release statement FWISD officials said making the decision to close is a detailed process. "The assessment process used to make a closure decision is extensive. Bus routes are assessed as are general campus conditions. The primary concern must be for the safety or all students, teachers and employees."

It's no surprise that a far north school district is shuttering. In a statement Thursday evening Denton ISD officials said, "Based on information the district has received from the National Weather Service, all Denton ISD campuses and facilities will be closed Friday, Dec. 6. On Thursday, Dec. 5, all evening district activities – including all athletic events – were canceled."

The Grand Prairie ISD posted on their website and Twitter page that the district "will be closed on Friday, Dec. 6." Several student athletic events and parent involvement activities, for both Friday and Saturday, have also been canceled.

In Tarrant County, all Arlington school district campuses will be closed Friday. A statement on the AISD website said, "Due to inclement weather, all classes have been canceled and all district offices will be closed on Friday, Dec. 6. Saturday activities are also canceled."  The school district also posted a statement about how administrators decide whether or not to close schools.

The Keller Independent School District has shutdown.  Their statement said, "Keller ISD campuses and administrative facilities will be closed Friday, December 6, due to the unsafe conditions of roads created by current winter storms." Administrators said that in addition to classes all scheduled after-school activities are also cancelled.

All University of North Texas campuses have also closed. The UNT website said campuses, "...will remain closed Friday, Dec. 6 due to inclement weather."  The UNT closure includes all offices, libraries and classes. Officials said all university WebCT classes and online testing will continue as scheduled.

Late Thursday afternoon notice was sent that, "TCU is closed the evening of Thursday, Dec. 5, and all day Friday, Dec. 6 due to inclement weather conditions."  TCU officials also canceled all university events.

Most classes on Tarrant County College campuses have been canceled. Thursday night college officials said, "Daytime classes on Friday, Dec. 6, have been canceled at all Tarrant County College campuses. Decisions will be made about Friday evening classes and Saturday day classes by 3 p.m. tomorrow [Friday]."
