Maypearl Police Chief Fired After Arrest Involving Sexual Assault Of A Child

MAYPEARL (CBSDFW.COM) - Maypearl Police Chief Kevin Coffey was arrested Wednesday on four felony charges including sex assault of child.  Soon after the Maypearl mayor said Coffey was fired.

Coffey turned himself in to the Ellis County Detention Center.

Warrants are for Indecency with a Child by Exposure (3rd degree felony), Indecency with a Child by Contact (2nd degree felony), Sexual Performance by a Child (2nd degree felony), and Sexual Assault of a Child (2nd degree felony).

Bonds have not been set on those cases.

The investigation is continuing through the Texas Rangers and the Ellis County and District Attorney's Office.

Charges against Chief Coffey involve his alleged actions with 14-year-old girl.

Coffey was placed on administrative leave earlier this month.
