Funeral Shoes

Singer and bass player Brandie Dawson, singer and guitarist Kevin Chapman, drummer Leila Wright and lead guitarist Bart Thrasher make up the post-rock group known as Funeral Shoes. When asked about the group's unique name, Kevin Chapman said, "I think that among musicians it's fairly common to play the game 'that would be an awesome band name.' Funeral Shoes came from a conversation I had with a friend who was preparing to go to a funeral. I misunderstood something he said, and asked 'Did you just say you have to get out your funeral shoes?' He said, 'No' and I quipped 'That would be an awesome band name.' So ultimately it was a miscommunication. The name of the first song we recorded 'Bloodhorse' was also miscommunication from a friend. I guess I miscommunicate quite frequently." Chapman's "miscommunication" has lead the group in creating its first album due out in early 2015.
