By Alyssa Gardina

Addison (or if you believe their street signs, Addison!) is home to thousands of offices, apartments and - no surprise - some really great bars. From pubs to wine bars, from Addison Circle to the shopping plazas near the Tollway, we've got you covered with the best recommendations for a night on the town.

The Londoner, off Midway and Beltline, is a gathering place for groups of all sizes - softball teams, after work happy hours, casual dates - you'll see it all in this huge pub. The bar and restaurant is split among several rooms, with plenty of tables and fairly decent service.

The Londoner boasts a great drink menu, complete with custom house cocktails and a solid beer selection, as well as a diverse food menu, great for munching while you knock back a drink or two.

A quick note: the Londoner (and several other Addison bars) still allow smoking, so don't wear anything you don't want smelling like smoke.

Mercy is on our list for the atmosphere alone. Romantic, quiet, yet somehow tucked away in the midst of one of Addison's busy shopping areas, this wine bar is ideal for a romantic evening or a quiet happy hour with your girlfriends.

And (mercy me!) their happy hour, weekdays from 4-7, is one of the best in town. $5 glasses of wine, paired with one of their incredible cheese plates, and you've got yourself one happy hour. For true oenophiles, Mercy's selection of over 100 wines by the glass is sure to please. If you can't decide, opt for one of their flights and try out wines by region or by varietal.

One of the newcomers to the Addison Circle neighborhood, the Lion and the Crown takes being a British pub very, very seriously. Count on no table service and slow bartenders, but good drinks and great British food. We're talking Traditional with a capital T. Plus, the Lion and the Crown brings a bit of a different feel to Addison Circle, which has seen more than its fair share of for lease signs recently. Also, there's no way we're going back to the Mucky Duck, aka Zen. Let's just cross that off the list right now.

The Dallas suburbs are known all too often for their chain stores and restaurants. That's why we had to find room on our list for an honest-to-goodness dive bar. The Outer Marker, located out near the Addison Airport, has everything a good dive bar needs: a dark atmosphere, cheap drinks and a menu that focuses on the best of fried fare.

Need something more to do? Outer Marker has Hold 'Em Poker, karaoke nights and live music - and (let's not forget) Wednesday night is ladies' night!
