Best Places For Fine Irish Whiskey In Dallas

Whether you are celebrating St. Patrick's Day, a special occasion or simply the week's end, Irish whiskey from any of these favorite Dallas/Fort Worth bars will hit the spot. Barley and rye lovers will find traditional Irish whiskies and cocktails as well as lesser known varieties, and even a whiskey dessert.

The Idle Rich Pub is well-known and usually packed on warm weekend nights. It offers a lineup of Irish whiskey that includes Jameson 18 Year, Connemara Single Barrel and Bushmills Malt, just to name a few. An occasional Irish whiskey tasting offers these and a few more not always available. This pub actually boasts quite a broad menu for a bar, and includes a warm goat cheese salad and cheese plate with your choice from 15 specialty cheeses. Idle Rich also offers a weekend brunch and late night menu, the latter of which is available until 1 a.m.

This Plano pub serves salads, burgers, snacks and desserts, including of course, Whiskey Cake's famous (you guessed it,) whiskey cake. Everything is made from scratch and served with whiskey. While the whiskey is actually ordered separately, the restaurant has an extensive list to choose from, as well as a variety of beer and wine. Whole whiskey cakes are even available for purchase.

The Dubliner is a casual Irish pub on lower Greenville Avenue where Irish whiskies such as Middleton Very Rare can be enjoyed. There is also a variety of beer on draft and in bottles, ciders and porters. On a cold day, there are hot drinks such as classic Irish coffees made of Irish whiskey, brown sugar, coffee and whipped cream, or a hot toddy with Irish whiskey, sugar, boiling water and a clove studded lemon.

The Capitol Pub is located in the Eastern end of the popular area of Knox/Henderson. It has a large patio that wraps around two sides and typically hosts a busy after work crowd. The happy hour lasts until 7 p.m., so there is usually time for a couple of drinks at day's end. Parking is sparse, as it is for any of the surrounding bars and restaurants, but valet is available. Capitol Pub's menu includes extensive appetizers and cheeses, in addition to traditional pub food and a whole page of Irish whiskies.

Trinity Hall has a list of fine whiskies, including cask strength, which means the drinks have the alcohol strength of whiskey right out of the barrel as opposed to those cut with distilled water like most bottled whiskey. Whiskey tastings are held regularly ($30) and include six samples and light appetizers. Details can be found on the website.
