From pumpkin ales to darker Oktoberfest brews, the German festival, along with the perfect patio weather, beckon for a cold drink with friends and good times. These Dallas/Fort Worth brew pubs help quench your thirst all year long, but each is offering seasonal beers perfect for drinking in the cool air of fall in north Texas.

Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale is a popular choice with its hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. New Belgium Hoptober is also available, though not a traditional Oktoberfest beer because it more closely resembles a pale ale. Still, it's well liked and unique to the season.

In September, The Ginger Man hosted its Oktoberfest Kick-Off complete with German food, costumes and of course beer, but if you missed it, don't worry, there is still plenty of celebration to be had all season long. True to its wall of beers, there is a line of German Oktoberfest beers including Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbrau and Paulaner, along with locals Real Ale and Rahr. Manager, Gary Brenders, recommends his favorites, the pumpkin beers, that usually show up in October. The Ginger Man will offer Dogfish Head Punkin Ale, made with pumpkin and brown sugar, and St. Arnold Pumpkinator, a batch originally brewed as Divine Reserve No. 9, but that has since made a yearly seasonal appearance.

Along with live Irish music and hot food, is of course, a long, ever-changing list of beers. This fall is no exception at Trinity Hall. It always tries to have at least one India pale ale, stout and wheat beer, but since these rotate regularly, the exact beer on tap is always a surprise. They are stocked for fall with a couple Oktoberfest beers including Left Hand Oktoberfest, a brew from Colorado with a sweet spicy flavor and a crisp finish. The second-story location makes for great sipping and people watching on the patio overlooking Mockingbird Station.
