Amber Alert: Dallas Boys, Jorden And Julien Rodgers, Now Safe After Mother Found Dead

Suspect Johnnie Palmore Who Killed Himself After Dallas Murder, Standoff Had Extensive Criminal History: 'I Knew It Was Him'

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Two Dallas boys, 7-year-old Jorden Rodgers and 1-year-old Julien Rodgers, have been found safe after an Amber Alert was issued for them after their mother was found dead inside an apartment, police said.

After a SWAT situation at The Hive apartment complex on Abrams Road, police found the two boys safe and that the suspect, Johnnie Palmore, had shot himself.

Just before 2 p.m., police said Palmore, the father of both children, died from his injuries.

Police said they responded to a welfare call at the Holston Apartments in the 8800 block of Ferguson Road Sunday evening. The mother, who was later identified as Latiffiney Rodgers, was found dead from homicidal violence.

Police said they learned the two missing children were living in that apartment with their mother, but they were not inside. This led to the issued Amber Alert.

Authorities were also searching for Palmore in connection to her death and the abduction.

The search eventually led police to The Hive apartments, where a SWAT situation ended with the two children being found safe and the suspect being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Palmore was later pronounced dead.
