DALLAS (CBS11) - Days after demanding millions the Irving teen known as "Clock Boy" is talking only to CBS 11.
15-year-old Ahmed Mohamed has been in the Middle East for about a month now, where most people see him as a regular kid and not as the Muslim teen arrested after his homemade clock was mistaken for a possible bomb at school.
"It's like how you expect it when you move to a new country and you meet new people," Ahmed told CBS 11 over FaceTime.
According to letters from Ahmed's attorneys, he's living in Qatar now because threats and fear drove his family from Texas.
The letters blame Irving schools, police, city hall and the media for painting Ahmed as a possible threat.
Ahmed's lawyers have demanded $15 million and apologies as compensation.
Ahmed's family said they have received direct threats on their lives. They want to come home, but fear the atmosphere in Irving.
"I was scared because I've heard what happened recently with, like, people with guns going to my local mosque," Ahmed said. "It's scary because people with guns and, I mean, they have the right to do that but it's scary because I'm afraid, you know."
For now, the family will remain overseas, but may try a trip home to see friends over the Christmas holiday.
