AG: 40 Parents Arrested For Skipping Child Support Payments

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) –  The Texas Attorney General's office arrested 40 area parents in a weeklong stint targeted at those who failed to pay child support.

The roundup, dubbed Operation Lone Star Support, had investigators spread across a 12-county swath. Attorney General spokeswoman Janece Rolf said those were arrested had plenty of chances to pay before the investigation.

"When parents refuse to do that, jail is a reality," she said.

Those who were arrested could face up to six months in jail. Rolf said any parents behind on payments are urged to call the Attorney General's office to reach a compromise.

"When parents violate court orders to pay there will be consequences," Rolf said.
