Aerial Spray Planes Take Off Over Dallas County

SOUTH OAK CLIFF (CBSDFW.COM) - The planes took off from Executive Airport in South Oak Cliff just after 9:30 Thursday evening under perfect weather conditions.

"The winds are very low right now. Looks like they are right in the zone where we would like them to be. There's no thunderstorms and no rain," said Mike Stuart, Dynamic Aviation

Just prior to take off, crews loaded both aircraft with pesticide to minimize light exposure.

"It breaks down with ULV rays. So we try to load it right before the missions and as the sun goes down," Stuart said.

For the next four hours or so, the planes will fly at an altitude of 300 feet. They will spray an area which includes downtown Dallas, North and East Dallas, the Park Cities, Richardson, Garland and parts of Mesquite north of I-30.

There are areas that are considered exclusion zones and former President George W. Bush's home in Preston Hollow is in one of them.  It was a part of their briefing and It has been factored into the computer program.
