18-Wheeler Crash & Fire Shuts Down Part Of U.S. 75

COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – A traffic accident and fuel spill completely closed down a portion of U.S. Highway 75 in McKinney.

An 18-wheeler was involved in a crash with at least one other vehicle. The semi caught fire after the wreck. The truck was engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m.

Just before 10 p.m. a spokesperson with the McKinney Fire Department said the northbound lanes of the highway would be shutdown for several more hours. There is no exact estimate but lanes aren't expected to fully reopen until well into the morning.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 75 were re-opened just after nine o'clock Wednesday night.

All of the main lanes of the highway were shutdown at Bloomdale Road, between Highway 121/Sam Rayburn Tollway and Telephone Road, for more than two hours.

Officials with the McKinney Fire Department confirmed that no one was killed in the crash, but said two people were transported to a local hospital.

Drivers in the area are advised to use Highway 5 as an alternate route.
