According to Nick Kypreos of SportsNet, Babcock met with the Toronto Maple Leafs over the weekend to discuss their open head coach position.
Detroit held exclusive negotiating rights with Babcock through June, but Holland said he and Babcock will not let the process drag out.
"We're only going to get better," Holland said. "One of the ways we're going to get better is our players are going to compete."
