"It's an everyday league, boy. It's an everyday league."
The Red Wings never mounted much sustained pressure on goalie Tuukka Rask.
"He's very fast, very smart and skilled. Plays the game hard," Bergeron said.
Ken Holland and the Wings are also in position to move a goaltender.
Justin Abdelkader scored in the seventh round of a shootout.
The Detroit Red Wings today recalled left wing David Booth from the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned center Dominic Turgeon to the Griffins.
Three Blackhawks scored in the first 8:47 before Howard was pulled, and the Red Wings never got back in the game.

Travis Konecny scored 27 seconds into overtime, lifting the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-2 win over the Wings.
The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forward Dominic Turgeon and defenseman Joe Hicketts to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins.
Petr Mrazek wants more playing time and Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill is probably going to give it to him.

Steve Mayer, NHL executive vice president, added that Kid Rock is a longtime Red Wings fan.
Blashill feels there are "other avenues" toward getting teams more rest.
