Zak Brand Water Bottles Sold At Target Recalled

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - A brand of water bottles sold at Target stores nationwide has been recalled due to a choking hazard.

The recall involves Zak Designs' 26 ounce plastic water bottles.

The manufacturer says the flip-top part of the bottle's cap can break off. The company has received nine complaints about the bottle breaking, including seven reports of plastic fragments being spit out by children using the bottle. No injuries have been reported.

The bottles come in various colors featuring different movie and comic book logos and characters including Captain America, Batman, Minions, My Little Pony, Spiderman, Star Wars, Superman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thor and Wonder Woman

They were sold as part of a back to college promotion from June 2015 through July 2015 for about $10. Mold number "14158" and "Zak Designs®" are embossed on the bottom of the bottles included in the recall. Bottles with a black inner straw and black twist-off cap are not affected.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled water bottles and contact the company for instructions on receiving a free replacement cap with straw.

Call Zak Designs toll-free at 866-737-1148 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit this link for more information or to fill out an online form to get your new cap.
