Worst Trends Of 2011 In Metro Detroit

As 2011 winds to a close, it's the perfect time to reflect on the top trends of the year -- good, bad, ugly, and uglier.

Festivus may be over, but we can still air grievances, right, metro Detroit? If we missed any more trends that should disappear, let us know in comments below. -- Christy Strawser

Neck and face tattoos

Do you want to have a job? Then don't tattoo your face. Sure, maybe you have an important statement to share with the world. But make it on a statement T-shirt.

The only statement ink on your face or neck makes is that you're not interested in being a contributing member of society. When Bad Boy Records offers you a recording deal, that's when you're allowed to tattoo your face. Not before.

Pajamas in public

See above. When you can't even be bothered to put on pants in public, you're making a statement, and it's not a good one.

Sure, you're comfortable. But worry more about how comfortable everyone else is around you. Indulge your inner child on your own time.

Skinny jeans -- on men

Teenage girls look cute in skinny jeans. Grown men? Not so much. If you're wearing a tourniquet in lieu of pants, re-think the decision. Unless you want people to mistake you for a teenage girl. In that case, have at it.

Forever Lazy,  Pajama Jeans

The same manufacturer appears to have created these two products, so we'll group them together into an ugly lump. Speaking of ugly lumps, unless you're a supermodel, pajama jeans are not for you.

And if wearing head to toe pajamas with a convenient flap so you don't have to remove anything to use the restroom is your cup of tea -- it's probably time to find a reason to leave the house. Or at least clean up your space in Mom's basement.

Sky high heels

Nicky Minaj made a bit of a horse's patoot out of herself at the 2011 American Music Awards show where she tripped and teetered across the stage in heels too high for humans. Take a lesson. Six inch heels with an extra platform may look cute in the showroom, but if you're too unsafe to walk the streets, grab another pair of shoes.
