White Powder In Letter To Governor Not Harmful
(Lansing-WWJ) A white powdery substance contained in an envelope addressed to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder was not harmful, according to Michigan State Police crime lab experts.
The substance has not yet been identified. It is also not known who sent it.
The envelope, addressed to the governor, arrived at Snyder's office in the Romney Building in Lansing Thursday. It was opened by a staff member, who complained of a skin irritation when his hand came in contact with the powder. The staffer was not harmed and there were no other injuries.
There was a letter inside the envelope, but it was not threatening in nature, according to MSP. State Police and the FBI are investigating the incident.
Snyder was not in Lansing at the time. The governor was on Mackinac Island, attending the Detroit Regional Chamber's annual Mackinac Policy Conference.
