Noel Night
The Detroit Cultural Center is the place to be this Saturday for The 39th annual Noel Night. The event happens from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and includes free admission to all the museums and other institutions in midtown Detroit, including the DIA, Detroit Historical Museum, and the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American history.
There will also be horse and carriage rides, live music, a community sing-along led by the Salvation Army band, and lots of free crafty activities for kids.
There's a free shuttle between the venues, which are mostly between Cass and John R, Kirby and Willis. Get more information here.
Rochester Hometown Christmas
The Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade happens at 2 p.m. Sunday. The 59th annual Rochester Hometown Christmas Parade runs down Main Street, starting at the corner of Tienken Road and Rochester Road. It's led by the Rochester police and the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, the grand marshals and dignitaries. It includes floats, candy and all the traditional trappings of a hometown parade. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra
The DSO has a date with Branford Marsalis and Beethoven this weekend when Marsalis performs the rarely heard Hot-Sonate of Erwin Schulhoff, whose persecution by the Nazis would destroy his career and end his life in a concentration camp, and Glazunov's Alto Saxophone Concerto.

Potter's Market
Looking for a unique holiday gift? The annual Potter's Market this weekend in Madison Heights will include hand-crafted ceramic sculptures, teapots, lamps, jewelry, ornaments created by more than 130 artists. It's at the United Food & Commercial Worker's Union Hall in Madison Heights. The hall is located at 876 Horace Brown Drive, two blocks south of 13 Mile Road between Stephenson Highway and John R.
