Wayne Static, Frontman For Static-X, Dies At 48
DETROIT (AP) - Michigan native Wayne Static, the frontman for the metal band Static-X, has died at age 48.
Morgan Renken, who worked with Static and the band for 15 years, says Static died Saturday but declined to give the location or the cause of the death.
Static was the lead vocalist, keyboardist and guitarist for Static-X, whose "Wisconsin Death Trip" went platinum in 2001.
Renken says Static was set to begin a month long U.S. tour and planned to play in Russia and England next year.
Static was a native of Muskegon and lived outside of Joshua Tree, California.
