Volkswagen Orders Jetta Recall
Electrical issues are prompting Volkswagen to recall 71 thousand 2011 Jetta sedan's.
The problem is with a wiring layout associated with the alarm system. A Volkswagen spokesman told WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert that, in rare cases, the wiring problem could cause headlights or other electrical components to fail. The company says there's also the potential of the vehicle stalling because of the issue.
Volkswagen says the problem was uncovered in its own internal testing, and adds that it has had no reports of real world issues, or injuries related to this.
The recall affects the sixth generation Jetta sedan, built between March of 2010 and March of 2011.
Owners will receive instructions in the mail. Volkswagen says customers who have questions can call the company's customer care line at 1-800-822-8967.
