Verizon Wireless Expanding 4G Across More Of West Michigan Nov. 17

GRAND RAPIDS -- Verizon Wireless Monday announced that it is expanding its Fourth Generation Long Term Evolution (4G LTE) network across more of West Michigan on Nov. 17.

Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network will be available in 178 cities across the country by Nov. 17 and currently supports 13 devices, including the new Pantech Breakout and Droid Bionic by Motorola.

With the upcoming network expansion, residents and business users across all of downtown Grand Rapids and the following communities with 4G LTE devices will be able to take advantage of the nation's fastest 4G network with speeds up to 10 times faster than Verizon Wireless' 3G network:

Ada, Alaska, Alpine, Belding, Byron Center, Caledonia, Cannonsburg, Cascade, Coopersville, Cutlerville, Grand Haven, Grandville, Holland, Hudsonville, Jamestown, Jenison, Lowell, Macatawa, Nunica, Plainfield, Rockford, Spring Lake and Walker.

Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network is currently available in Grand Rapids.

John Granby, president of the Michigan-Indiana-Kentucky region for Verizon Wireless said that bringing West Michigan into the 4G LTE world will be "helping residents, small businesses and local government connect faster and more fully with each other and those outside our community. Our 4G LTE network is revolutionizing the way people communicate, and we know this connectivity will be a key communications and technology enabler for many years to come."

Verizon Wireless introduced its 4G LTE network Dec. 5, covering more than 110 million Americans. In real-world, fully loaded network environments, Verizon Wireless 4G LTE customers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second (Mbps) on the downlink and 2 to 5 Mbps on the uplink.
