Vanilla Ice Arrested For Burglary

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) He was not rolling in a 5.0 and his hair was definitely not blowing when perennial Detroit favorite Vanilla Ice, aka Rob Van Winkle, was arrested in Florida.

Van Winkle, 47, was charged with burglary after allegedly nabbing items from an abandoned, foreclosed home.

Police in Lantana, Fla., told CBS DFW the musician and home-improvement-show host had been renovating a home next to the victim's house for a show he now hosts on the DIY Network.

Authorities say furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items were snatched between December and February. Police said some of the items were found at Vanillal Ice's property.

The performer has never shied away from Detroit ties, visiting most recently to take center stage at the gala for the Thanksgiving Day Parade known as the Hob Nobble Gobble. He wowed the crowd with his hits and spent the next morning on a float at the parade where he, ahem, rode the route from "A1A to Detroit Avenue."
