U of D Jesuit Students Clean Up Belle Isle
[photogallerylink id=38135 align=left] As part of their Pledge Detroit Project, hundreds of hardworking Detroit students braved Tueday's high winds on Belle Isle as they work to spruce up the island.WWJ's Vickie Thomas spoke with the principle of University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Anthony Trudel, who said the project was the students' idea.
"It's fantastic, I think it's a testament, to what our school is all about, our goal is to motivate the will of our students to serve and they have delivered," Trudel said.
Near the Belle Isle Conservatory, U of D senior Michael Dolin ignored the approaching storm, "trying to make it all better by pulling out weeds."
Lance Foster, a senior at U of D, was happy with their progress, "So far we've been cutting down trees and pulling out weeds and making the area look nice," he said.
But what about the weather?
"It's actually not that bad," he said.
