Trooper Injured While On The Scene Of Accident On I-696
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A Michigan State Trooper is injured while assisting at the scene of an accident along a busy freeway Monday morning.
Authorities confirm that a trooper is hospitalized after his patrol car was hit while he was assisting drivers involved in a three-car accident on I-696 at Northwestern Hwy.
Lt. Mike Shaw told WWJ Newsradio 950 the trooper was alert when he transported to a local hospital but had suffered serious injuries —including several broken ribs and a broken leg.
Eastbound I-696 was closed at the scene for an accident investigation.
