Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - The temperature may be cooling down, but construction season is still red-hot with active work zones all over metro Detroit freeways this weekend.
Save yourself some time and hassle by planning your route ahead of time to avoid the following road work areas announced by MDOT.
As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-75:
In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will have two lanes closed from Grange Hall to Lahring road from 8 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday, and again from 7 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday for maintenance work.
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound I-75 will have two lanes closed between Sashabaw and M-15 from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
I-94:
In Macomb County, westbound I-94 will have multiple lanes closed from 23 Mile to Shook roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday, and again from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday, for maintenance work.
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a double lane closure between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday for resurfacing work.
In Detroit, alternating single and double lane closures on eastbound and westbound I-94 between I-96 and Michigan Ave from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.
In Wayne County, westbound I-94 at Hannan Road will have a single lane closed from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday, and two lanes closed from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.
In Macomb County, alternating single and double lane closures on westbound I-94 from Crocker to 11 Mile roads from 6:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday.
I-96:
In Oakland County, eastbound I-96 will be reduced to a single lane at Milford Road from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work. In addition, the ramp from westbound I-96 to southbound Milford Road will be closed from 6 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday. Milford Road under I-96 will be closed 6 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Wayne County, northbound and southbound M-39 will be reduced to a single lane under I-94 from 4 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
M-15:
In Oakland County, a permit has been approved to close both directions of M-15 between Waldon and Clarkston roads from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday for the Taste of Clarkston Festival. Detours will be posted in each direction.
Beginning the week of Monday, Sept. 24:
I-275:
In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will be reduced to a single lane at Ford Road from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.
In Wayne County, the westbound Michigan Ave ramp to northbound I-275 will be closed from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday in order for crews to set bridge beams. Ramp traffic will be detoured to Ford Road.
I-94:
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane nightly between 23 Mile and County Line roads beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 6 a.m. the following morning starting Monday night and ending Friday morning.
