Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Several freeways have scheduled lane closures for this weekend. Don't miss the Halloween festivities because you're stuck in a traffic jam. Before heading out, check traffic conditions and plan your route to avoid backups.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-696:
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-696 will have a single lane closed between Van Dyke and Mound from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for sign foundation work.
In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-696 will have two lanes closed between Van Dyke and Groesbeck from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.
I-94:
In Macomb County, the right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from 8 Mile to 9 Mile roads from 5 a.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday for maintenance work.
In Wayne County, the right and center lanes of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Conner to Harper from 9 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge maintenance.
In Wayne County, the left lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Gratiot to Whittier, while the left lane of westbound I-94 will be closed from Moross to Conner from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday. From 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday, the left and center lanes will be closed. The same configuration will be in place Sunday and Sunday night. All lanes will be open by 5 a.m. Monday morning.
In Detroit, the ramp from Mt Elliot to westbound I-94 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday for repair.
I-75:
In Wayne County, the right two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed at Springwells from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for bridge maintenance.
In Detroit, the 8 Mile Road entrance ramp to southbound I-75 will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday for repair.
M-39:
In Detroit, the right and center lanes of northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed between McNichols and Schoolcraft from 5 a.m. until noon on Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
In Detroit, the right lane of northbound M-39 will be closed from Schoolcraft to 8 Mile, while the right lane of southbound M-39 will be closed from McNichols to Schoolcraft, from noon Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing bridge work.
M-59:
In Oakland County, intermittent one hour closures are scheduled on the ramps from Adams and Squirrel roads to westbound M-59 from 7 a.m. until noon Saturday for freeway paving.
M-10 (Lodge Freeway):
In Detroit, the entrance ramp from Grand River to northbound M-10 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday for repair.
M-5:
In Oakland County, northbound M-5 will be closed for a 15-minute interval from Maple to Pontiac Trail sometime between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday in order for the road commission to install a truss sign over M-5.
