Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! There will be plenty of sunshine this weekend, so make sure you enjoy it in a place other than your car. Several ramps and lanes are scheduled to be closed over the next few days.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-75:

In Oakland County, the following ramp closures are scheduled in conjunction with the ongoing resurfacing of M-59; Detours will be posted for each ramp closure:

  • Southbound I-75 to eastbound M-59 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
  • Northbound I-75 to eastbound M-59 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

I-275:

In Wayne County, the right and center lanes of northbound I-275 will be closed from Koppernick to Ann Arbor Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for bridge maintenance.

I-96:

In Detroit, eastbound I-96 will be reduced to a single lane at West Grand Boulevard from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.

In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound I-96 will have a right lane closure between Kent Lake and Old Plank roads from 5 a.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the left lane of eastbound and westbound I-696 will be closed at Mound Road from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for sign foundation work.

I-94:

In Wayne County, the left and center lanes of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Gratiot (in Detroit) to 8 Mile Road from 9 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Saturday. From 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, the right lane will be closed. The lane closures are needed for the installation of pavement markings.

In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have the right and center lanes closed from Cadieux to Conner roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, and again from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge maintenance work.

In Wayne County, eastbound I-94 will have a rolling single lane closure from Gratiot to 8 Mile from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday to complete the pavement marking installation.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):

In Detroit, the southbound M-10 ramp to eastbound I-94 will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for maintenance.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):

In Wayne and Oakland counties, the right lane of southbound M-39 will be closed from M-10 to Joy Road from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. today for the installation of permanent pavement markings.

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound M-39 will be closed at McNichols from 7 a.m. to noon, while the right lane will be closed on southbound M-39 at 7 Mile from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday for electronic sign installation.

In Wayne County, the left lane of northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed between 7 Mile Road and M-10 from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for concrete surface sealer application.

M-59:

In Oakland County, the left lane of eastbound M-59 will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday for ongoing construction.

In Oakland County, the following ramp closures are scheduled in conjunction with the ongoing resurfacing of M-59:

  • Eastbound M-59 exit to northbound Squirrel Road from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday
  • Eastbound M-59 to southbound I-75 from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday
  • Eastbound M-59 exit to southbound Squirrel Road from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday
  • Northbound Squirrel Road entrance to eastbound M-59 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday

M-150 (Rochester Road):

In Oakland County, a single lane is closed on southbound M-150 from University Drive to the Paint Creek bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily until early November for utility relocation work.
