Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work
DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! Usher in the first weekend of autumn with fun fall activities, not by getting stuck in traffic.
The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.
I-94:
In Detroit/Harper Woods, westbound I-94 will have the left two lanes closed from 8 Mile to Gratiot Ave., while eastbound I-94 will be closed from Gratiot to 8 Mile from 9 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday, and again from 9 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday for ongoing bridge work and resurfacing. A detour will be posted for eastbound drivers using Gratiot and 8 Mile to get back to east 94.
In Detroit, the two left lanes of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Conner to Outer Drive from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for resurfacing.
In Macomb County, eastbound I-94 will have two lanes closed from I-696 to 13 Mile Road from 9 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday for ongoing construction.
In Macomb County, the ramp from westbound 11 Mile Road to westbound I-94 will be closed from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday for ongoing construction.
I-75:
In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will have the left two lanes closed from Big Beaver to Wattles, while southbound I-75 will have the two right lanes closed from 14 Mile to 13 Mile roads, from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday, and again from 9 p.m. Saturday until 9 a.m. Sunday for maintenance work.
In Oakland County, the ramps from northbound and southbound I-75 to eastbound M-59 will be closed from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday for paving work on M-59.
I-75 Business Loop (Square Lake Road):
In Oakland County, the ramp from eastbound Square Lake Road to southbound I-75 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept 29, for repair. The posted detour directs drivers north on I-75 to westbound University Drive back to south I-75.
I-275:
In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound I-275 will be closed from Hines Drive to I-96 from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work. Access to the interchange will be maintained during this time.
I-696:
In Macomb County, a single lane will be closed on eastbound I-696 at Mound Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for ongoing construction.
I-96:
In Detroit, the left two lanes of eastbound I-96 will be closed at Scotten Street from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
In Detroit, a rolling two lane closure is scheduled on I-96 between Martin Luther King Blvd and Telegraph Road for detailed bridge inspections. Eastbound lane closures will take place Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., while westbound lane closures are scheduled from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
In Oakland County, westbound I-96 will have a single lane closure at Kent Lake Road from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
In Oakland County, the eastbound I-96 exit to northbound M-5 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 p.m. Sunday for repair. A detour will be posted.
M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Detroit, northbound and southbound M-39 will be closed between Grand River Ave and Ford Road for ongoing construction. The full closure will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and end by 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to Telegraph Road.
In Wayne and Oakland counties, M-39 will remain closed between the Lodge Freeway and Grand River until October.
M-59:
In Oakland County, Eastbound M-59 will be reduced to one lane from Opdyke to Crooks from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday. During this time, there will be intermittent closures of ramps at the I-75, Squirrel Road and Adams Road ramps as paving progresses. Westbound M-59 will be reduced to a single lane from Crooks to Opdyke roads from 6 a.m until 8 p.m. Sunday. Again, there will be intermittent closures at the ramps as paving progresses.
M-153 (Ford Road):
In Wayne County, the eastbound Ford Road ramp to southbound M-39 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 9 p.m. Saturday for paving.
Old M-14 (Plymouth Road):
In Wayne County, a single lane closure is scheduled on eastbound and westbound Plymouth Road between Wayne and Stark roads from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for maintenance work.
M-102 (Eight Mile Road):
In Wayne County, the right two lanes of westbound 8 Mile Road will be closed from Beech Daly to Grand River from 2 a.m. Saturday until 7 p.m. Sunday for maintenance work.
