Toyota Reflects On Previous Safety Problems
Toyota's top North American executive says he believes the company has corrected the underlying problems that lead to last year's big safety concerns.
When the safety concerns broke last year, they didn't have a good crisis team in place, says Toyota north American president and CEO Jim Lentz, now they do, speaking with WWJ Autobeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert. Lentz added, that now they have more authority to order recalls before waiting for authority from Japan.
"We are a totally different company today, than we when this crisis took place, so I'm not sure if it could take place again." Lentz said.
President of Toyota, Akio Toyoda, says he feels the damage done by the recall was short-term, and feels that Toyota has conveyed to customers that they are serious about safety.
