To Tip Or Not To Tip: A Barista Dilemma

(CBS Detroit) If you're trying to spark a spirited debate, talk about politics, child rearing or religion.

But there's one more topic left: Tipping.

What are the rules? Are you expected to tip your waiter, bartender, hairdresser, manicurist, the guy who mows the lawn and walks the dog, the one who just held open the door for you  -- and the person who just foamed your latte?

Or should you only tip people who are underpaid, put in extra special effort or who make you feel good about yourself?

Is tipping a way to oil the wheels of polite social interaction, or is it out of control?
